Mallory had so much fun helping and connecting with customers that she even received a “Kudos Alert” from a customer.
When Mallory, a successful entrepreneur and local business owner, first reached out to MentorAbility, she wanted to branch out and try personal shopping. Wykes’ Your Independent Grocer, a local grocery store and inclusive employer, was the perfect fit!
When Mallory arrived at Wykes’, she met her mentor, Cristina, the store’s assistant manager. Cristina was so naturally engaging that you would never have known it was her first time as a MentorAbility mentor.
Mallory was shown the ropes as a personal shopper for online orders. Cristina also wanted to make sure she was introduced to the different jobs that a person can do in the store. They spent several hours together practicing different roles, from restocking shelves to the bakery to the checkout.
It was at the checkout that Mallory’s outgoing and friendly personality really got the chance to shine. She had so much fun helping and connecting with customers! By the end of the day, Mallory had done such great work that she even received a “Kudos Alert”—a customer feedback form that commended her hard work and professionalism.
All the staff at Wykes’ Your Independent Grocer were so comfortable and welcoming with Mallory. And Cristina rocked as a first-time mentor! Mallory enjoyed the experience so much that she may apply for a job as a cashier at Wykes’ in the future.
Congratulations on your mentorship, Mallory! We’re excited about where it might take you.
