This represents tens of thousands of skilled, educated, and motivated potential employees whose talents are needed by employers from coast to coast.
In 2021, to propel inclusive employment forward, CASE formed its Innovation Lab — a specialized team to support, promote, and share learnings from innovative collaborations with community organizations, to remove barriers to employment facing people experiencing disability and strengthen the Canadian economy.
CASE is excited to announce that their Innovation Lab has received a grant through the federal government’s Sectoral Initiatives Program (SIP) to support up to 27 community organizations between now and the fall of 2024, to identify, support, test, and grow innovative solutions that facilitate the sustained and valued contributions persons experiencing disability can make to our workplaces and communities.
The Innovation Lab at CASE is now accepting proposals for transformative supported employment project ideas – ideas that create opportunities, connect people, and crush the barriers that prevent persons with disabilities from participating fully in work and society. For more information and to apply, please visit the CASE Innovation Lab website by clicking here. Proposals will be accepted until July 22, 2022, at 5PM EST.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have received this funding from the federal government,” says Joy McKinnon, CASE Innovation Lab Coordinator “Investing in inclusive employment is always the right way forward, but COVID-19 has worsened an already precarious situation for Canadians experiencing disability and the situation demands an urgent response. We need some out-of-the-box, transformative ideas to move the needle on workforce inclusion in Canada and the CASE Innovation Lab project aims to bring those ideas to life.”
CASE is also looking for seasoned professionals from across Canada to serve on our Innovation Lab Selection Committee! Leverage your supported employment expertise to help CASE select the projects that will be piloted through this exciting initiative.
