Always reaching for more!

As a massive sports fan, Brandon loves his current role as a back shop merchandiser for a sporting goods store in Calgary; and, he’s been commended on his excellent work ethic many times over the years. Despite loving his job, however, Brandon wanted to further challenge himself by moving into more of a customer service role but there were no openings at his current location.

Thankfully, Brandon was referred to MentorAbility where one of his main goals was to learn new tasks – specifically, customer service and cash handling. He also thought he’d be a good fit at Jersey City (a sports merchandise store) and thankfully we were able to connect him with the manager of a local Jersey City named Tyler.

Tyler proved to be an excellent mentor – friendly, open and accommodating – and he provided Brandon with the full orientation experience for newcomers at Jersey City. Brandon got the opportunity to ring through live sales, and he enjoyed talking sports with the customers as he helped them with their shopping needs. Also, as a special treat, Brandon was able to try out the store’s embroidery/pressing machine, adding signatures to hats and names to jerseys!

Thanks to Tyler and Jersey City, Brandon had a wonderful time during his MentorAbility Experience and he gained the new skills he set out to learn!
