Canadian Grind Cafes is a small coffee chain in B.C. that offers specialty food and drink. The brand is known for empowering staff by providing inclusive environments with flexible schedules while offering extra knowledge, support and training requested by staff. We knew these stores would be a great environment for mentorships to take place and we were thrilled when owner, Lynnette, agreed to partner with MentorAbility.

Tyler was one of our first MentorAbility Experiences at Canadian Grind Cafes and it couldn’t have gone any better! Tyler arrived “very poised, well dressed and energetic” and was excited to learn how the store operated behind the scenes. He met with Carolyn and was immediately introduced to staff before being shown the ropes at various stations, such as the bakery, the soup station and the coffee and sandwich station. He even got to make some chicken wraps and dip to serve for lunch!

Tyler loved his time at Canadian Grind and came out of his MentorAbility Experience “with a smile on his face” while repeating how he “fell in love with the setting and work culture.” He particularly liked working the dishwasher and “thought it was cool” nobody had to wash dishes manually! Tyler thanked Lynnette and Carolyn for the opportunity and they both praised his positive energy and work ethic before offering him a job – what a fantastic match!

Great job Tyler! Your hard work and determination paid off!
