Job Development
Creating Opportunities and Connections.
Job developers are uniquely positioned to bring together job seekers experiencing disability with employers seeking qualified and skilled workers. Building on CASE’s 9 Guiding Principles of Supported Employment, this program will strengthen a job developer’s understanding of the employer’s needs. Participants will become better equipped to address an employer’s business concerns while developing sustainable and competitive employment opportunities.
Job developers will learn to connect job seekers with inclusive employers, develop relevant job opportunities, and find solutions to current business concerns. This program focuses on enhancing critical communication and marketing skills. The modules cover the ethical and legal implications of job development and examine the role from a well-rounded perspective.
Upon completion, learners will receive micro-credentials that verify their participation in the program and outline the targeted knowledge, skills, and/or competencies addressed.
The Job Development certificate program has been developed in partnership with Life Strategies, which has shared content from their Job Developer certificate. Life Strategies has also benefited from contributions/insights from First Work in Ontario and Jayne Barron, Life Strategies’ Job Development Course Instructor.
Program Delivery
This 8-week facilitated online program offers a blend of both asynchronous (independent) and synchronous (scheduled) learning activities. The asynchronous learning activities include reviewing learning modules, posting in discussion forums, and completing assignments independently every week. Synchronous activities include participating in weekly webinars and open-hour discussions.
The weekly live webinars present additional content. The class size is kept small to facilitate engagement and networking among learners. Both the webinar and the discussion forums offer opportunities for collaboration and feedback from your instructor and cohort (learning group).
If you require an accommodation to participate in this program, please reach out to our National Trainer and Enrollment Coordinator at [email protected] or the Director of Learning and Development at [email protected].
This program is currently available in English. We are working to make the program available in French.
