Frequently Asked Questions
Are you an experienced practitioner looking to enhance conversations with your clients, employers, and staff or colleagues? Do you want to shift conversations to accentuate solutions rather than challenges? If so, this offers:
- basic understanding of solution-focused tools and techniques;
- willingness to explore how the solution-focused approach aligns with the career development process; and,
- the ability to engage in a reflective practice in order to intentionally integrate solution-focused tools and techniques into your role as a career practitioner.
If you’re unsure, we invite you to book a discussion with our Enrollment Coordinator to further explore best fit. You can schedule a time that works for you by emailing learn@supportedemployment.ca.
This is an online 5-week program (5 weekly modules) and will require a total of 25 hours to complete. One (1) hour per approximately every second week will be allocated to a live webinar, while the remaining weekly commitments can be completed on your own time.
We recommend allocating at least five (5) hours per week.
Online training will take place via CASE’s learning portal, called "TalentLMS". Your login credentials will be emailed to you before the program is scheduled to begin.
While this program is primarily asynchronous, learners are required to attend three (3) live webinars and submit all weekly commitments by Sunday evening every week.
We invite you to review our Accessibility Statement and to connect with the Director of Learning and Development, if you require an accommodation for any of our training offerings.
To successfully complete this program, learners are required to complete the following by Sunday evening every week:
- Review all modular content and resources.
- Participate in the discussion forum by posting one (1) original post and responding to two (2) others.
- Attend the live webinar (when applicable).
- Complete the knowledge check.
- Submit the learning activity (requires an 80% grade to pass).
We encourage all learners to schedule allocated time to complete program requirements (and attend the live webinars) in advance to prevent meeting conflicts and promote a positive learning experience.
However, we recognize that due to an unforeseen circumstance you may miss one of the webinars or require an extension to complete your weekly commitments. In this scenario, please reach out directly to your Facilitator as soon as possible to develop a learning plan, which will help you stay on track.
In Solution-Focused Career Practitioner, the weekly live webinars occur during weeks one (1), three (3) and five (5) on Wednesdays from 2:00 – 3:00 pm EST.
The webinars take place via the Zoom platform. Please make sure you have a Zoom account set up in advance of the first webinar and join with a working microphone and video camera to be able to fully participate.
You can access the meeting details within the learning portal itself. Additionally, your Facilitator will regularly send you the meeting details in their communications.

What Our Members Are Saying
This course offers practical techniques to enhance the work we already do as Employment Services staff. It provides an opportunity to learn, develop and practice skills that allow your clients, employers and staff to identify their own solutions or resources for today's concerns. Some of the great takeaways include: practical and applicable examples to use within our daily delivery of services, connecting with a new network of peers and ongoing support from the instructor and CASE team (who made this course very user friendly).
