Digital Literacy Instructor Certificate Program
This online program prepares employment professionals to conduct digital skill assessments and provides the tools and resources required to support job seekers in increasing their digital capacity. Moving beyond basic digital knowledge, this program encourages critical thinking about online safety, strategies to manage an online presence, and ways to leverage social media for employment related purposes.
This program allows employment service providers to offer a value-added and vital service to their job seekers. When an employment professional has successfully completed the program, they are eligible to:
- Receive a registration URL,
- Host a group of students on the CASE portal,
- Participate in an ‘instructor orientation’ on the learning management system,
- Receive evaluation data from their students, and
- Access technical support while teaching.
Digital Literacy Certificate Program for Job Seekers
- Using a computer,
- Troubleshooting basic computer problems,
- Connecting to the internet,
- Safely navigating the web,
- Performing online banking,
- Designing an online safety plan,
- Creating email communications,
- Developing a social media presence,
- Applying for jobs online,
- Working with the cloud and
- Developing Word, Excel and Google documents.
Note: Unfortunately, at this time the Digital Literacy Certificate Program is only available in English. We are working to make the training available in French as soon as possible.

Note: The cost does not include HST/GST/PST/QST. The applicable provincial sales tax rate will be applied to your invoice.

Cancellation Policy
In order to provide you with the best possible learning experience, we keep class sizes for the Digital Literacy Certificate Program small. Due to this limited seating, we request that if you must cancel, you do so at least 14 days before the scheduled start of the class to receive a full refund. If you must cancel with less than 14 days notice, we will do our best to fill your spot with another interested participant. If we are successful, we will reimburse you for your full registration fees. If we are not able to fill your spot, we will refund you 50% of your fees. We are not able to offer refunds for cancellations made after the course has begun.

Our digital literacy certificate programs were created in partnership with the University of the Fraser Valley, with additional support from Community Futures South Fraser, Community Futures Ventures, and the Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program of BC.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are you looking to enhance or refresh your understanding of digital tools for daily living and employment purposes? If so, completion of this program will demonstrate your ability to:
- have an awareness of essential computer hardware/equipment and basic troubleshooting;
- connect to and safely use the Internet;
- develop Word, Excel, and Google documents;
- apply for jobs online;
- use email to create and respond to communications; and,
- create social media profiles as a marketing tool.
Note: to participate in this training, you must be connected to an employment agency that has successfully completed the Digital Literacy Instructor Certificate Program.
If you’re unsure, we invite you to book a discussion with our Enrollment Coordinator to further explore best fit. You can schedule a time that works for you by emailing learn@supportedemployment.ca.
This is an online 3-week program (3 modules) and will require a total of 30 hours to complete.
We recommend allocating at least ten (10) hours per week.
Online training will take place via CASE’s learning portal, called "TalentLMS". Your login credentials will be emailed to you before the program is scheduled to begin.
